On Saturday 21 September we held our Community Emergency Hub Open Day – what a great turnout, over 80 people came along to discover how the Hub could operate in the event of an emergency.
This was a collaboration between the Martinborough Community Board, SWDC and WREMO (Wellington Region Emergency Management Office). The Community Emergency Hub is run for the community by the community – a place to gather to seek and to offer help.
There are many people to thank for their contributions on the day including but not limited to, Donna McQuaid who took on the role of Hub supervisor, Mitre 10 for use of the BBQ trailer, The Community Market kitchen crew, Jody from Starlight performing Arts and The Martinborough Toy Library.
Each and every person who came along to participate and to observe thank you – what an amazing community we live in – if you would like to find out more about the role of the Community Emergency Hub, please contact angela.brown@swdc.govt.nz
SANTAS HELPERS REQUIRED – This year’s Santa Parade is scheduled for Sunday 15 December and we need your help to make this happen – this is a great opportunity to support your local community and help create memories for the children of Martinborough.

Thank you to everyone who engaged with the recent Representation Review, consultations are an opportunity to have your voice heard. Not everyone wants to participate in this manner but hearing your thoughts and opinions is valuable. Please drop by at our regular monthly pop-ins or contact any member of the Community Board (ask at council for email details or leave a message and we will call you).
