Martinborough Wine and Food Society

We held the AGM in May at the Brac and Bow restaurant at the Royal Hotel Featherston. It was an informal affair where the excellent food wine and company was enjoyed by all.

The quality of the food and service is particularly high here. The canapes are really special, we had Pork Belly Bites, Venison Carpaccio, Pan Seared Scallops, Chicken Liver Pate and Calamari Popcorn. The mains were Jackfruit Tart, Saffron Fish, Duck or Sirloin, all with grilled greens and a royal salad. The duck was delicious and particularly well received.

The desserts were equally delicious, there was a choice of Whittaker’s Chocolate Chilli Mini Tart, Mad Hatter Brule and Chocolate Chilli Mini Tart, Mad Hatter Brule and Raw Honey with Roasted Peaches!

Philippa Pointon was re-elected as President, Dave Stewart as Treasurer and Peter Rae as cellarmaster, other committee members include Penny Rae, Willie Sutherland, David Woodhams and Sue Delamare we welcome John Penney and Lynne Rice as new committee members.

Next month we are going to have a Wine tasting of New Zealand Alberino’s with one Spanish Alberino as a comparison. If you are interested in coming to this tasting and becoming a member of this group please ring Philippa on 021-43-4163 or Dave on 027-4530-475.
