ANZAC morning 25th April and prior to Dawn, members of Martinborough Returned Services Assn, Defence Service Personnel and Returned Servicemen and women, Martinborough Volunteer Fire Brigade members, Rev May Croft, Councillors, Scouts, Martinborough School and Kuranui College students and Martinborough residents assembled outside Pain & Kershaw’s. The Parade, led by the Wairarapa Pipe Band and under Parade Marshall, Daniel Hawkins marched to the Cenotaph for our ANZAC Service at 6am.
The Venerable May Croft Archdeacon for Wairarapa, took the service, which included students from Martinborough School and Kuranui College reading the names of those members of the community who had lost their lives during the Boar War, World War I and II.
After the Service the parade marched to the Waihinga Centre and joined members of the community in the town hall for tea or coffee and something to eat which was prepared by Members of Rural Women NZ Martinborough Branch.
