Wairarapa College Centenary – Please help us spread the word

By Jenny Gasson Nov 2022

The Wairarapa College community are excited to be celebrating 100 years in 2023 from the 10th to 12th March and we are asking for your help to spread the word to your friends, family or contacts from College days.

Although we are reaching out into the current and past school community using various methods we know we may miss people says Jason Kerehi, College Board Member and Chair of the organising committee “and it will be word of mouth that really reaches our audience”.

“A dedicated Centenary organising committee has been working hard putting together an awesome range of events to celebrate and we’d love you to join us to catch up with old friends, make new ones, and enjoy the weekend” says Mr Kerehi.

All of the information is on waicolcentenary.nz and it’s here that you go to register your attendance. We’ve kept costs low for registration which affords you entry to over 15 free events over the weekend. Registration is only $35 for an alumni and $50 for a family.

In addition to the free events you can choose to buy a ticket to the The Golf Tournament; The Ball; Sir Bob Charles Breakfast or the Centenary Dinner for an additional cost.

The WaiCol Centenary Ball – The weekend’s flagship event is to be held in the iconic school hall. Our theme is the 1920’s. Enjoy a complimentary glass of bubbles, and a two-course dinner, and be entertained by the incredibly talented “The] Beat Girls”joining us for the WaiCol Centenary Golf Day on Friday 10th March at Masterton Golf Club.

WaiCol Centenary Breakfast – Start the day with a full buffet breakfast at Copthorne Solway. Former college house pupilLuther Toloa will host this special event ‘A conversation with the two bobs’ – Former Mayor Bob Francis and 1963 British Open winner Sir Bob Charles.

The Centenary Dinner – Join us for a relaxing formal 2 course buffet dinner at Copthorne Solway Park. Time to unwind for the day and relax over fine food and wine – a chance to mix and mingle and an opportunity to reminisce.

So going back to the original request which is please help us spread the word. Share our website link – waicolcentenary.nz; follow our Facebook.com/waicolcentenary or instagram.com/wairarapacollegecentenary.
