Toy Library news

Oct 2022

The quiet winter months have allowed the Toy Library staff to conduct a stock review. A successful sale of some of the less popular toys raised funds to buy new toys. Those that didn’t sell have been donated to local organisations that can make use of them such as Martinborough Playcentre and Masterton hospital.

Among other new toys there is more activity equipment including a climbing triangle and a new scooter; toys related to the tv shows Gabby’s Dollhouse and Paw Patrol; and some STEM-related toys such as a new learning robot and a marble tree. Some new soft play equipment is on order as well. We remind all members to clean and wipe down toys before returning them, ready for the next family to borrow.

The Toy Library has also been able to review its membership fees. We are very grateful to South Wairarapa District Council who provided a generous grant which enables us to reduce annual membership to $50 per family. There are reduced rates for grandparents, short term memberships and volunteers.

New volunteers are always welcome, and it’s a great way to meet other families with children of similar ages. The commitment is usually 2 hours on a Saturday once every 6 weeks or so. If you wish to become a member, either come along to the Ambulance Station on Texas Street Martinborough any Saturday between 10am and noon. Alternatively, check out our website at https://martinborough.mibase.co.nz/. Please note that the membership prices have not yet been updated to reflect the recent change.
