Stop! Don’t take it to the tip – Why not take it to Ā Mua instead?

Ā Mua Community Resource Centre accepts a wide range of reusable items and materials (see below) that might otherwise end up in landfill. These items are then on-sold in our Re Use It! Shop in Featherston with profits being returned to the community through Featherston’s Own Charitable Trust. Every year tens of thousands of tonnes of still-usable items end up in the waste stream and are consigned to landfill at great financial as well as environmental cost. Donating items to Ā Mua gives them a second chance.

  • Building, gardening and landscaping materials     X Electrical appliances
  • Tools and implements     X Gas appliances and gas bottles
  • Furniture and other household items                                               X Used child car seats
  • Bicycles and scooters                                                                                 X Used helmets 
  • Sports, leisure and outdoor goods & equipment                                                                        
  • Water-based paint and other decorating materials

Items accepted for recycling

  • Scrap metal, car batteries
  • Tetra paks (clean, dry and cut open)
  • Household batteries
  • Milk bottle lids; Wine and beer caps
  • Plastic plant pots and punnets (for reuse)

*Please note: Items for drop off must be okayed by a staff member before being left. Our ability to accept some items may change due to limits to storage space and/ or fluctuating market demand.
