Matariki cluster

By ecky Bateman July 2022

Te Papa has provided this photo of the Matariki Star Cluster. It can be seen rising in the north east around the winter solstice. In the summer it can be seen to the left of Orion throughout the summer. It’s a cluster of young hot blue stars, 9 can be seen with the naked eye and there are approx. 500 in the cluster.
