Martinborough Golf Report

By Kris Chamberlain Secretary/Administrator July 2022

It has turned very wintery out on the course over the last couple of weeks which is very unfortunate for those that need a cart and judging by how wet it is underfoot it could be a few weeks before it will be dry enough for them to go out again.

Last month Thursday Club held a tournament to farewell Doug and Jan Ferguson who were moving north to be nearer family.  There was a great turnout of nearly 80 players with Jason Shaw the winner with 42 points which is very impressive off a handicap of 4.  Other Thursday Club winners over the last month have been Jason Shaw, Rob Smith and Rob Lopez.

At the end of May we had our Ngahau Trophy and Grandmas & Grandpas Tournament.  The Ngahau Trophy winners were Alison Tipler and Sandy Bidwill, Alison also won the Grandmas and Chris Ranish the Grandpas.  Non Grandma winner was Debbie Donaldson and Non Grandpa winner was Charlie Cresswell.  There were a number of twos, namely Mary Isaac, Netia Morison, Brian Russo, Dayle Scrimshaw, Ed Brown, Jason Shaw (2), Nick Allen, John Warner and Sheldon McNamara.

The Marquis Shield team have 2 rounds left to play (weather permitting) as do the Tilson Salver and Riverside Cup teams.

That’s it for another month – hopefully the weather will improve enough for us to get out on the course.
