A state-of-the-art Wheel Alignment Machine, the Hunter Proline 2, imported from the USA last September, is now in use at bp2go Martinborough Automotive.
“Most of the big tyre companies now have equivalent equipment,” says Matt Fenwick. We are approved fitters of leading brands; Maxxis, Continental, Hankook and Michelin tyres so it made sense to purchase the equipment.”
“This model is precise and just so easy to use.”
“All we have to do is to drive the car on the hoist. We attach the Targets on each wheel. As they are each worth $5,000 we make sure they don’t get dented or dropped. On the computer we enter the client’s details. We enter the brand, the model, and the registration. The computer then shows the correct specifications on the screen for that particular car.
The boom above the hoist is fitted with laser beams. The laser beams focus on the Targets and measure both the caster and the camber of each wheel.
The computer screen then shows whether each individual wheel is exactly aligned for that make and model of car. If it is not in perfect alignment, it is simple to make the adjustment. When it is in the right position the information on the screen indicates that the correction has been made and now meets the specifications.
This machine not only saves time, but the outcome is accurate. Of course, says Matt, the advantage of having wheels correctly aligned is that it saves wear and tear on the tyres, so they last longer. Fuel efficiency is greatly improved. This technology is really impressive.”
