Saving the kumara

Peruvian researchers from the International Potato Centre say that 93% of one of the world’s most important crops are threatened by global warming . Only 6.7% of nearly 2,000 strains of kumara were tested as heat tolerant. . However the heat tolerant strains could be used for inbreeding programmes to help alternative crops adapt to the predicted temperature increase.
