Australia’s last GM free state

Apr 2018

South Australia  crop farmers are pushing their  state government to  repeal the state’s GM ban claiming that it is keeping their per hectare yields lower than the other those of the other states.

They point out that world wide there are 185 million hectares of land  growing GM crops some for over twenty years. These crops are helping 18 million farmers in 26 countries produce more much needed food.

However opponents  point to the advantages of being able to label their crops GM free. World GM trade is expected to double from $676 billion in 2014 to $1,200 billion in 2019 .
