Martinborough Community Choir update

July 2017

Our first concert for the year will be on Tuesday evening at 7.30, July 18, in St Andrew’s Hall, Dublin Street, Martinborough. The choir will be performing a variety of songs on the subject of food and drink, featuring soprano Regan Gardner as our soloist, with accompanist Martin Lawrence.

This year we’ve been very fortunate to have had three great ‘choir masterclasses’ with our patron Mark Dorrell. We always find these sessions inspiring, beneficial and very good fun. Mark has a wealth of knowledge on all aspects of choral singing, and happily shares this with us.

The next important date in our choir calendar is a workshop with Gospel singing guru, Tony Backhouse to be held in St. Andrew’s Hall,7-9pm on Tuesday, August 15. The workshop will be open to anyone interested in a cappella gospel singing. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys group singing.

We’d also very much like to thank the Martinborough Lion’s Club for letting us practice in their Lion’s Den over the past couple of months. We’ve really appreciated singing there while our usual practice venue, the First Church Hall, has been unavailable as the church prepared for their annual book fair.

Later in the year we’ll have more information about our usual mini-concert in the Jazz in Martinborough Festival in September, and our 5th Birthday end- of-year concert in December.
