WHAT’S NEWS AT WHAREKAKA

May 2016

Firstly please let me introduce myself.
I am the new Activities Coordinator at Wharekaka, Maggie Westergren.
I am in my second week in this roll and thoroughly enjoying meeting and getting to know our residents.
So what’s been happening?
We have reading and discussions of daily News Papers, Pilates ,Tai Chi ,Church service, Music from Lance Naysmith ,D.O.T kids and Housie.
Prior to this Ann Nielsen was filling in and has been busy with BBQs,bBrain fitness, Bowls, Baking and board games to mention a few activities.
Wharekaka van should be back in action soon and this will allow outing to continue.
A visit to Fernside gardens organised by the Auxiliary was very much enjoyed.
Aged Concern held there meeting at Wharekaka which was a success.
With this great weather we have been able to take advantage of our pétanque court. This has seen a competitive sprit arise and in one case under hand bowling was seen being used and I don’t think I need to say which country that resident was representing. This will continue so long as the weather allows.
