RWNZ Fashion Parade with High Tea supper

Oct 2015

Seventy five people enjoyed a fashion show with high tea supper hosted by the Martinborough Branch of Rural Women NZ at the Martinborough Golf club on 4 September.
The function was to raise money to go towards the refurbishment of the lounge at Wharekaka Aged Care Facility. Eight local women modelled spring fashion clothing from Ballentynes Fashion Central in Masterton.

Tables were set with vintage supper cloths, bone china cups and saucers and spring flowers. Bite size sandwiches, savouries, cakes and slices were served on tiered plates, fancy china plates and silver baskets. Branch members served tea and coffee from old fashioned tea trolleys complete with embroidered tray cloths.

We thank the many local businesses who supported us with goods and vouchers for raffles and spot prizes. Thankyou also to the Martinborough Golf Club for the use of their premises.
A cheque will be presented to Wharekaka later in October after the remaining raffle, at present on sale at Pain & Kershaw grocery, is drawn and final figures are known.
In July Rural Women NZ turned 90 years old and we were happy to share a birthday afternoon tea with the Wharekaka residents.
