Martinborough’s famous ROSE & FLOWER SHOW is only six weeks away, and this year hopefully will be the best yet! Plans for Saturday November 14th in the town’s equally famous Town Hall are well on the way.
The Committee are pulling out all the stops to encourage new exhibitors and, of course, crowds of visitors to this annual fund-raising event. Last year donations were made to the Town Hall fund for purchase of tables and one to the Life Flight Trust. The Show needs your support.
BRAND NEW this year … a PHOTO COMPETITION. Full details will be available shortly but here’s a heads up to get budding photographers on the way. Entries: a single rose, in any setting or background. There will be two age classes: under 17 years and 17 and above – no limit!; one entry per person. The size of the photograph: 5” x 7” maximum, and printed [hard copy] on photograph paper, unframed. The closing date is Friday November 6th.
The Show organisers would love to see this new venture ‘take off’ so are offering first, second and third prizes in each of the two sections. A professional photographer will judge the competition, but will be fully aware it’s for amateurs!
As well as the photo contest, the usual classes are included. Roses [of course]; Cut Flowers; ‘Home & Garden’; the special entries for our kids; and lastly the very special ‘Floral Art’. Schedules for the show are in progress and will be available in various outlets around town later this month.
