Taste and Talk with Winemakers

July 2015

Wine is made to be shared. To be tasted, rolled around in the mouth, enjoyed and talked about a bit.

No-one enjoys that more than six Martinborough winemakers who are hosting Conversations with Winemakers evenings, on 11, 18 and 25 July at the Village Cafe.

“The idea is to introduce locals and visitors to the wide range of fine wines produced in our boutique wine village, guided by winemakers speaking plain wine language,” say winemakers Katherine Jacobs (Big Sky Wines) and Carl Fraser (Murdoch James Estate) who are organising the series for Wines From Martinborough.

“The first session looks at local White wines , with James Brodie (Brodie Estate) and Katherine Jacobs, while the second reveals a few Surprises, with lesser known varietals and innovative blends, presented by Paul Mason (Martinborough Vineyard )and Lisa Coney (Coney Wines). Afterwards there’s the option of pizza at the Village Cafe.

“The final session focuses on our flagship wine Pinot Noir, as part of a full dinner. Many people have suggested this approach, and it’s the perfect way to explore wine.

“Pinot Noir especially is a “food wine”, and presenters John Douglas (Te Hera Wines) and Carl Fraser are particularly passionate about pinot,” they say.

Details and tickets (including Earlybird prices) are available online at www.iticket.co.nz , at the Martinborough Wine Merchants or i-Site office. Note: See also banner advertisement in this paper
