Once again a small group of women in Martinborough has produced some lovely rugs, jerseys, hats, and baby clothes to go to orphanages and very poor families in Eastern Europe to help them to cope with really cold winters. These items will be on display on Saturday, 1st August at St Andrews Hall, Dublin Street, from 1.30 pm, afternoon tea provided.
On Wednesday 5th August a larger display, combined with Featherston, will be held at the Union Church, Featherston, from 10.00 am until 3.00 pm. After this the knitted goods will be packed in wool-bales and shipped to Eastern Europe to arrive before their winter at the end of the year.
We are very grateful to Jim Clark of Cotter and Stevens for his generous donation of funds to help with freight costs of these items from Auckland; also to Linfox Transport who will take the bales of knitted goods to Auckland for shipment to Europe.
