At DOT Kids Early Learning Centre this month we have been very busy preparing for Matariki, and our own special celebration will be held on Friday 3 July. The teachers and children have learnt new songs and have made props and a backdrop for our production, entitled ‘There is a Taniwha in my River’ which will be performed on that night for our families. The children will also prepare a ‘boil up’ feast!

We again visited Wharekaka, and this time sang songs to the residents, and the four year olds continued to visit Martinborough School.
We have had very special visitors – local firefighters Sarah and Justin came to DOT Kids to talk about their roles in the community. They brought along all their firefighting clothes and the children were able to try on some hats. They reassured the children that the protective clothing they wear keeps them safe so that they can help us in case of a fire.
