Womens Institute Awards

May 2014

Martinborough Womens Institute made their presence known at the Wairarapa Federation Annual General Meeting held in Masterton. There are twelve to fourteen Institute Branches in the Wairarapa.

It couldn’t have been a more special occasion as our very own Betty Finlayson has been recognised for her time and interest in the organization with a special and highest award, a Gold Honours Badge.

This badge will be presented at the National Conference to be held in Wellington in July. These awards are not lightly given and Betty is a very worthy recipient.

At the Wairarapa meeting another special member, Daisy Aldridge, was presented with a Good Service Badge by no othere than the National President Mrs Jeanette Andrews. It is rare to have a National President at the Wairarapa meeting so it was special. Daisy is a person who is always reliable and only too pleased to help at all times.

Two other Martinborough Members, were recognised for long service and presented with a Bar by the National President. Noeline Bain for 60 years and Nolene White 50 years a member.

Not only did Matinborough figure in the Awards, Betty won 1st for her hot water cover and 2nd for her garter stich child’s jacket.

Although our membership is small those who attend the Monthly Meetings enjoy their social contact and would appreciate new residents coming to get to know and have contact with others on a regular basis.

Meetings are on the first Thursday of the month in the Fire Station Social Room stating at 1.30 pm. Contacts are secretary Nolene White 3069 567 or Betty Finlayson 3069 390. We would love to get to know you!
