Now seriously looking for BOOKS!
Folk at First Church have had a most interesting time this Easter, as we have studied in some detail the accounts of the Easter story as told in the four gospels. Our minister Dr Jim Veitch also took the traditional well-attended Anzac Day service at Lake Ferry, fortunately on a clear dry morning.
And NOW – spread the word – we are focussing on amassing as big and varied a collection of books for our 6th annual book fair on the 20th, 21st, 22nd of June in the town hall.
Here’s a challenge – if you’ve been needing a spur to tackle that job of clearing out of book shelves, or disposing of cartons of books cluttering up the place, you are invited to “go for it” now.
From now to the middle of June we will be gathering books of all kinds ( also jigsaws and music) in our hall in Weld Street, so we can sort them into useful categories for avid book-hunters. If you’ve been to previous fairs you’ll know what glorious treasures there will be to find.
The fair will follow the usual format with a guest speaker followed by supper and first pick of the books on the Friday evening (all for $15), then running on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm with free entry.
We’ve unearthed the colourful bin for the drop off of books at the library and they may be left at the library or P&K’s, or leave word there or at the BNZ to arrange pick up.
