The business of biography.
The first of the Medici Lecture Series for 2014 has been organised in conjunction with Yarns in Barns.

Experienced biographers David Grant, and Denis Welch will talk about the challenges of researching and writing biographies of famous New Zealanders and discuss whether it is easier or harder to write about people you can no longer talk to. Ian F. Grant will chair the debate.

David has written Man of All Seasons: The life and Times of Ken Douglas and The Mighty Totara: The Life and Times of Norman Kirk . Denis Welsh is the author of Helen Clark: a Political Life and is currently researching a further Kirk biography.

Ian F. Grant is a founder-director of the National Business Review and of the New Zealand Cartoon Archive at the National Library in Wellington.

The meeting will be held at Café Medici on Thursday 29 May . A complementary glass of mulled wine and nibbles will be available from 6.30 p.m. and the discussion will begin at 7.30 p.m. The cost is $20 each and bookings are essential. Phone: 06 306 9965.
