What’s going on – and call for books!
We’re well into this year now, and planning our activities and projects.
Every year after the relaxation of Summer holidays, we suddenly have to get ready for the Country Fairs in February and March.
These are safely and successfully behind us for another year – thank you as always to all the suppliers of baking and produce for our stall. First Church is always pleased to keep the tradition of being at these Fairs at which we’ve had a stall right from the start, and we do enjoy meeting our friends and supporters both from Martinborough and further afield, and making a good sum towards our lovely church’s running costs at the same time. We are very determined to remain a presence in this community.
Now Easter is ahead of us, and we are enjoying the lead up to this by studying the Easter story as found in the four gospels led by our minister Rev Jim Veitch.
Look out for posters round town with times of our Easter services for Good Friday and Easter Sunday
The Rev. Jim will be taking the traditional Anzac Day service at Lake Ferry
Our Midwinter Book Fair has become a much anticipated event in Martinborough’s calendar – this year on 20th, 21st and 22nd June in the Town Hall.
Every year we are delighted and amazed at the quantity and variety of books handed to us for this grand sale.Obviously ebooks has not reduced the aquiring, reading and swopping of “real”books. Our Fair provides a great opportunity to tidy and clear your book shelves, and then we hope have fun finding great books to fill them up again!
Next month we will be calling for books in earnest to start sorting them, but right now is the time to start putting aside your unwanted books for us.
