Rural Delivery contractor Gordon Wyeth is launching a tourist opportunity with a difference; an opportunity for up to three people to spend a day on his NZ Post run. Having spent the last five months working through all the compliance issues the venture, ‘To the Coast With the Post’, is now ready to go.

Some time ago Gordon realised that his run which covers the Pirinoa, Lake Ferry, Cape Palliser area would offer visiting tourists a unique way to view both rural life and the Wairarapa southern coastal views.

The daily 220 km run includes 50ks of unsealed roads and traverses many types of farm land. Along the way there are all the sights which we tend to take for granted: Lake Ferry, Ngawi, where bulldozers go to retire, the seal colony and the lighthouse with its 253 steps for those who care to climb.

Gordon has been on this run for almost ten years and over this time has built a up a knowledge of it’s history and of the local people. Being never short of a witty quip he will ensure the day will be one that tourists are unlikely to experience anywhere else in New Zealand.

As a keen photographer himself he will be able to point out tourists the numerous stunning photo opportunities along the way. Many of Gordon’s photos have graced the Star’s pages, for which we are grateful. At the end of each year he choses what he considers the best twelve and produces a calendar from these. The calendars are on sale at the Pirinoa Store.
