More Barrel rolling fun

Dec 2013

Barrel Rolling and racing closed down half the square again on the eve of Toast Martinborough. It is a great way to kick of the festivities of Toast Martinborough. The teams from the vineyard community came through with a great turnout that saw many vineyards all enter into the race. With Te Kairanga taking the overall victory this year in fine style.
The best dressed was a clear winner with VJ contracting turning out as full body painted Avatar’s.

The business barrel racers were a little short on entries this year so a call for help was sent out. Thanks to a team from Greytown Businesses, and the Local Hospo Business that both put in a teams. We called for some random entrants from the crowd to make up the final part of the race.

The race came down to two carts, Perception planning and P&K Mitre 10 with P&K narrowly taking the win for the third year running.

Next year the Martinborough Business Association would like to open this race to the Wellington region. If you would like to enter start plotting your super-fast  barrel cart early and be in to win.
