Your Councillors are working hard for the community and catching up on the period between the Elections and the Results when it was very quiet. Thank you for your vote and confidence in me as your elected representative for Martinborough. I look forward to working with the new Community Board and welcome Lisa as the new Chair and thank Pam for all her years as Chairman and her contribution to the area.
As Deputy, Pam’s knowledge and connections will be invaluable. You may have already heard we have formed a Graffiti Working Party with members from all the three towns and we are working with Police, City Care, Community Patrol and Neighbourhood Support. We are being proactive and starting in Featherston with the most issues – graffiti is an Offence and grossly under reported to the Police.
We are currently running at $2760 over our budget with City Care for the cleanup of Graffiti and this does not include privately owned premises or the Railway Station and rail corridor. This is a youth issue and to this end we are endeavouring to get some more activities that they may actively engage in during the school holidays in Featherston.
We will be moving to Martinborough in the New Year alongside Neighbourhood Support to establish a network of youth activities and community ownership of the problem.
We are very grateful to the Masterton Safe & Healthy Community for the donation of Graffiti Clean-Up Kits which will be available from Council and in Featherston. If you spot Graffiti please report it to Council (ring in 24/7) for our database, with the location and a photo if possible. If it is not on Council property come in and get a Clean Up Kit. Unfortunately Council does not provide anyone to do the clean up for you!
Seasons Greetings and enjoy the Xmas Parade – thank you Kay and Mary again.
