Community Board

Dec 2013

This is my first column for the Star as the new Chair of the Martinborough Community Board. I am one of two new faces this triennium and I know that Victoria Read and I are looking forward to the challenge. Your returning board members are Pam Colenso and Adi McMaster with Julie Riddell and Max Stevens our two Councillor representatives.

I am particularly pleased that Pam Colenso has accepted the Deputy Chair role. With twelve years experience on the Martinborough Community Board and nine years as Chair I am looking forward to learning the ropes with Pam’s help and experience. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our outgoing Community Board members, Heather Gibbs and Jo Guscott for their hard work on behalf of Martinborough.

Over the next 3 months we will be working together to develop our key areas of focus for the three years ahead. This will allow us to prioritise key initiatives and allocate our budget accordingly. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any of your Community Board members to share your ideas. We are also on Facebook: facebook.com/MartinboroughCommunityBoard. I would encourage you to like our page and share your thoughts on what our priorities should be over the next 3 years.

I have been getting out and about and listening to a lot of people recently and two clear priorities that keep cropping up in conversation are the Martinborough Town Hall Project and the opportunities (or lack of) for youth in our community.

What other areas do you think Martinborough Community Board should be involved in?
What opportunities lie ahead for Martinborough?
What is the single biggest issue that we face as a community?

Please let us hear your thoughts, the more our community is involved the better our future will be. You can contact me on 06 306 8946 or e-mail: martinboroughlisa@cornelissen.co.nz.
All community board member contact details are available on the SWDC.govt.nz website.
