Library news

Dec 2013

These last few weeks has been a sad time for our library staff as we mourn the passing of our dear Simone.  Over the last years Simone was a source of light and joy to all who worked in or used the library and we shall miss her terribly.
Things are keeping on track in the library, our new bi-lingual signage is appearing above and beside bookshelves so you can find books a little easier.

I have just received a bundle of new interior design books for those who expressed an interest and some big gorgeous photography books.

The Christmas books have just been hauled out of their secret winter hiding place and are ready to go, go, go.  Not that I am at all ready for Christmas – please let’s not count down the days, it’s too close already!

The schools have not long to go before breaking up for the holidays and that means our Summer Reading Programme is preparing to be launched.  Join us for a “Summer Beach Read” from mid-November.

Guys are you stuck in your tractor making silage, bored to tears? How about borrowing one of our CD audio books to listen to.  12 hours of David Baldacci’s “Divine justice”, a juicy murder or capitivating war story.  If it’s a really big paddock how about “Paris” by Edward Rutherford, giving you a whole 36.5 hours of fabulous pleasure (would have to be a massive paddock!).

Flicking nicely over the large print books, the good news is that The Cochrane Trust has given us $2,000 to spend on Large Print books.  Our thanks to the Trustees who made the award and the Trust for donating this lovely grant to us. I shall begin ordering soon – if there are any special requests please do let me know.

The Trust has also given us enough to purchase another Victor Reader for hire to any of our customers who need advanced audio or visual capabilities in their CD player.

Please come and see me if you have any special requests, besides coming to view the latest shoes!
