Cross Creek Blues Club

Dec 2013

October’s guests  at the Cross Creek Blues Club were Callum Gentleman – musician par- excellence, raconteur, troubadour and showman; and dynamite Alto Sax man Andrew Miller who bought the finest qualities out of this instrument, with subtlety and flair. The Blues Club also hosted a JAM TV film crew profiling The Honkey Tonk Heroes (Eric Manson and John Beckett) who have been making music together in the Wairarapa for over 30 years.

Ever popular “Ladies Night” returns on Wednesday 6 November 7:15pm at the Tin Hut with a fine line up of Cross Creek Blues Club women and Raven Mavens, two slinky Wellington songbirds, Marian Carter and Cindy Muggeridge (on boogie woogie piano), who feature along with Martinborough’s own Pip Maynard, who definitely has that “X Factor”. She will share some fine blues with Johnny Gray on lead guitar, Steve Judd on rhythm and Rod Ingle on Bass.

And, as if that were not already enough, our special Ladies Night guests are Wellington’s finest – Laura Collins and the Back Porch Blues Band.  Laura is an up front Blues Diva with heart on sleeve and tongue in cheek in equal measure. You can expect to hear a little BB, a little Koko, some Muddy Waters and many more soulful vocals, sweet guitar solos and honky tonk piano. ?
