Its great to see the sun has ushered in some mild Spring weather, and so it signals the Carterton Daffodil Day is coming. My dairy farmer friends are getting busy with the new calves that are arriving ( and I get excited at the thought of surplus milk and cheese making but that’s another story).
On a more serious note we have had a shaky few weeks. It’s normal to feel scared but its good to take control of the things you can control, by having an emergency bag in your vehicle.
Also discuss with a friend a back up plan if you are stranded away from school and can’t pick up your children.. In our vehicles is always a bag packed with sturdy shoes, super warm pants and jacket for both me and my small assistant. Plus a sleeping bag, a 2 litre bottle of water, chocolate and snack bars, and even bikkies for Pippin my dog. Also an emergency first aid kit and glow sticks.
A little overkill you may think but seriously if you DO get stranded, at least the team will be warm, and happy with snacks to fall back on. If you a baby the kit also a 4 litre bottle of water and milk powder for at least 4 days and spare Huggies.
It’s also a good time to check on your neighbours and see if they need some help with getting a basic kit together too. Lastly make sure things in your own home can’t topple on to our little folk.
We had great success with the combined morning tea and SKIP talk– ‘Surviving Tantrums’ which was held at the Anglican Church Hall on Fri 23rd Aug 11:00-12.30pm, glad to see some cheery faces. We have another one called ‘Moving on from Nappies’ which is also to be held at the Anglican Church Hall Fri 20th Sept 11:00-12.30pm.
Come along, we’ll put on morning tea treats’ so mums can relax and the bubs have a play as well. We’re always looking for new people to join so if you would like to join like minded mums, give us a call, we’d love to hear from you. 0630 66176.
