Hi everyone. Despite the wintery weather, we had a great afternoon of country music at RCMG on 22 June. Our guest artist, Lance Pene, kept the crowd entertained with well-known country music tunes and his easy going style. When he wasn’t singing, Lance was playing his steel guitar with the backing band, which added an extra dimension to some wonderful music. Lance, a very skilled leather-worker, also brought along some of his western/American-Indian themed wares, which went down a treat as well. We thoroughly enjoyed hosting Lance and look forward to seeing him again sometime.
24 August will see RCMG hosting guest artists, Dennis and Christine Pere, from Lower Hutt. Dennis is a great all round musician. He was a member of the Wellington band ‘KGB’ a number of years ago, and remains an active musician with at least two different Wellington-based country music clubs. More recently Dennis has been providing backing for Roger Tibbs in his series of concerts in the Wellington Region. Christine is a good vocalist in her own right, singing both traditional and gospel country tunes. We look forward to hosting them this month.
RCMG gathers on the fourth Saturday of the month (except December) at Messines Bar & Restaurant, 57 Fox Street, Featherston. It is run on a ‘walk up’ format with a live backing band. If you wish to sing a song or play an instrumental, you can get up and have a go. If you’d rather just listen to live country music, that’s fine too. A modest $2.00 door charge per person (18 and over) applies. For further information:
