Wairarapa United Football visits

May 2013

Four members of the Wairarapa United Football team have been passing on their knowledge and skills to pupils of Tuturumuri school. Along with obvious attraction of having very skilled players as visitors is added the interest of each of the players comes from a different country. George comes from England, Miloslav from the Czech Republic, Esava from Fiji and Jonathon from Chile.

Finn Bargh reports:
My name is Finn and I play soccer as a mid-fielder.  Esava, George, Jonathon, and Miloslav from the Wairarapa United Football Club have come out to our school on Fridays to coach football/soccer to all our students.

They have been giving us lots of training like passing the ball to each other on one foot and then the other foot,   and if we got mad or angry they put up blue cones in a triangle and called it the fridge, so you could go there and cool down.

I tried out as goalie but prefer playing in the middle of the field. The coaches told us the four rules which were safety , respect,  to learn, and after that they put a dotted line under all those and put FUN.

George is a really good football player and the coaches all joined in our practice games, which made it very exciting and hard work too.
