White Sox Coach at Kahutara School

Apr 2013

Softball coach Naomi Shaw made a special visit to Kahutara School recently to work with students on improving their skills.  Naomi is coach of the White Sox, New Zealand women’s softball team, and also holds a position with Softball New Zealand. In that role she works to develop the sport and what better way to do so than with students from Kahutara School on a beautiful autumn day. Visiting schools and working with children is one of her great pleasures. As Naomi says, “ it’s a great excuse to have a day out of the office”.
Kahutara School has shown a lot of interest in softball recently. Teacher Brodie Wilson contacted Softball NZ after the Black Sox won the world championship, and students sent letters of congratulations to them. Naomi is keen to follow up such enthusiasm and encourage the sport. She is particularly pleased to come to the Wairarapa, where she has family.
