Vans and vines fundraiser nets over $15,000

Apr 2013

RV Travel Lifestyle Vans & Vines fundraiser weekend, held over the first Martinborough Fair in February, was a great success for all involved. The weekend dawned sunny and warm every day, which was a huge relief for the magazine, ‘RV Travel Lifestyle’, as we ran our first fundraiser motorhome rally event.

We had decided to combine it with a fundraising event for the families of two local men, Peter Fisher and Brian Renwick. Both men suffered terrible head injuries in late 2012.

Happily both men are recovering well. Peter Fisher visited with us for a few hours each day over the weekend, with his parents Bryan and Noeleen Fisher staying on site with us. Being very active members of the NZMCA in Wellington, their help over the weekend was invaluable.

Friday night we enjoyed wine tasting with three local vineyards sharing their fine labels with us. Helen from Olivio Olive oils also offered tastings.

A Golf Tournament, arranged by Jackie Renwick, Trevor Hawkins and assistants, was very successful with mainly local community participants raising over $1600 for the fundraiser.

Entertainment on Friday night was low-key, but highly entertaining with local Graham Jacobson volunteering his Karaoke act with guest artist Pip Maynard for the evening. Saturday night saw a local ensemble lead by Shayne Cater close the evening off after the auction.

The auction was mind-blowingly successful – totally due to the kindness and spirit of the many companies that Bruce Mountain contacted and worked with; they give us as much opportunity as possible to get the maximum amount of dollars in.
Our thanks to all who supported us, from our small team here at RV Travel Lifestyle magazine, Robyn, Bruce, Laura, Rona, and heartfelt thanks from Peter and Brian to all the companies involved.
