As we ease from summer in to Autumn I’ve found it a good time to start my clean out of tired toys and household clutter and put it aside in boxes and ship it out for our Plunket garage sale which is coming up in the winter months.
Needless to say my small assistant master 6 loves the idea of taking his pocket money along to get himself some bargains, so if you have any treasures you would like to donate, put some boxes aside, and when we start to advertise we can pick it up, or you can drop it off in the days before the garage sale.
It’s no secret that our local town library has been assessed in an engineering report as an earthquake risk and will be relocated in a safer modern space. Unfortunately our Martinboroughs Plunket rooms have also been assessed as an earthquake risk so we are fundraising to raise money to go towards our new building. This will be an ongoing project which we hope to commence to completion in the next year. If you would liken to be involved in this we’d love to have you on board!
In the last fortnight we were very fortunate to be donated a piece of artwork from Artist Shane Hansen with all proceeds going to Martinborough Plunket, if you missed out on bidding, you can also view his work online at shanehansen.co.nz We are extremely grateful to Shane for his generosity as we look for other ideas to help us raise money, which at the end of the day benefits our local community.
Lastly, this last fortnight several families have faced the immeasurable loss of precious babies. In a small community like we have here, we all feel their pain and loss and look to a way that as friends and family we can support them both in the months ahead. We are a very caring family orientated community here in Martinborough and you both are in our thoughts and prayers.
