Wharekaka’s New Nissan

Feb 2013

December the 7th 2012 was a special day at Wharekaka Rest Home and Retirement Village, the unveiling of their new Nissan Serena people carrier.

“Why?” I hear you ask.  After a very long and difficult journey Wharekaka purchased a Nissan Serena for the enjoyment of residents in the facility, villas and day-care residents. Yes – we now have transport for our residents.
This project had been planned for many, many years and thank you to the dedicated Trust Board members became a reality. Wharekaka has been very fortunate to receive generous donations from service clubs of the South Wairarapa towards this project.

The Nisan Serena is designed to carry eight passengers in considerable comfort. The designer styled interior is spacious and with excellent outward visibility. There have been plenty of positive comments from the residents, particularly about the roominess.

The Serena has had a couple of outings and Wendy has plans for plenty more to come.  We can also pick up day-care residents from the community so if you or your loved one would like to join our Monday-Friday programme please contact Wendy on 3069 701 and have a chat.  You will enjoy a range of activities, a lovely home cooked hot midday meal and maybe renew old acquaintances or make new friends.
