Relay for Life returns to the Wairarapa again in February of next year and its promising to be the best event yet.If you’re not familiar with ‘Relay’ and wondering what it’s all about, let me explain. It’s a big party really; the finale event for teams that have fund-raised for the Wairarapa Cancer Society. All the money raised stays in the Wairarapa and goes to support the very many patients and their families that are affected by this disease.
The actual event involves having a team of ten or more, camp out at Masterton’s Queen Elizabeth Park and take part in a walk/run relay through the night, recognising that cancer never sleeps.
Relay for Life recognises those that have fought the battle with cancer and won and also remembers those who were not so lucky. It is a fantastic event and it deserves our support.
Please remember that cancer is not fussy who it chooses. Everyone of us will be affected at some time in our lives by this disease. It could be our own health, someone close to us or simply just someone we know.
One day it could be you calling the Cancer Society for support so please get behind Relay for Life. We need 100 teams and thirty three have registered so far which is a great start. If you can’t field a team then please support the fund raising of those who can.
