Wines from Martinborough to London, Singapore and Wellington…

Oct 2012

One of the challenges for wineries is the ability to nurture relationships with distributors and customers who are based internationally as well as nationally. Wines From Martinborough provides members the advantage of a collective marketing approach and together we are able to have a much greater impact.

You may recall that last month we had a trade delegation heading to Singapore. Just last week we had another group in London. We’re not normally such jet setters, but it’s not often the stars align as they did, presenting unique opportunities for the vineyards involved to break into, or further develop their hold, on these important international markets.

We are particularly proud of last week’s achievements in London, from being the stars of the show at The Three Wine Men event (Olly, Oz & Tim are kind of the equivalent to wine as what Jamie Oliver is to food), through to hosting some of Britain’s most influential wine writers.

This trip really showed the power of the collective approach and was considered an outstanding success for all those involved, whether they were small vineyards just breaking into the export market, or some of our larger, more internationally recognised wineries.

This month we’re in Wellington and are hosting an event called Wild About Wine on Tuesday 16th October. With 19 vineyards involved we’re intending to wow media, hospitality and wine trade during the day, then treat Wellingtonians at a ticketed evening event, tempting them with our amazing wines and reminding them of why they should be proud of the vineyards on their doorstep. If you have friends in Wellington who are lovers of Martinborough Wine, tell them to buy a ticket and come along: www.wildaboutwine.co.nz.
