Off to the North Island Champs

Oct 2012

Martinborough School’s Jump Jam team, ‘The Marty Jumpers’, have made it to the top 10 North Island teams and , as such, will be competing in the North Island finals at Taupo in November.

‘Jump Jam’ is aerobics for kids. Twice World Aerobic Champion, Brent Fairweather created Jump Jam to help make exercise a fun thing which children of all ages will want to be involved in. While at the same time being, safe, simple and effective.

Brent has produced a series of DVDs describing various routines with the music to go with each. Teams from competing schools learn and then polish their chosen routine which they then video and send to be judged. The ten best in each island then go forward to a live contest. The Marty Jumpers have won a place in the top ten.

Their success is down to lots of work with their coach, Martinborough School teacher Erin Chamley, and is all the more meritorious in that this is their first time that they have entered the competition.
