Helping to keep our town safe

Oct 2012

Since 1995, the Martinborough Community Patrol has been operating alongside the police to maintain a safer community.

The Patrol is affiliated with CPNZ (Community Patrols of NZ).
Our dedicated volunteers are the eyes and ears of the police, keeping an eye out for unruly behaviour and suspicious movements of cars, trucks or bicycles during the night hours.

They work in pairs on a roster system every 6 – 8 weeks, patrolling the town and perimeters, and acting as a deterrent to offending. Their role is one of observing and reporting only. They never confront anyone.

All volunteers undergo a police vetting procedure and are bound by the Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement.
