An unexpected response

Oct 2012

Yesterday’s mail gave Room One, and us, proof that caring and thinking of others pays off. The children were so proud of our Olympic team that they decided to make cards to congratulate them -some children commented- “Are you really going to send these?” “Of course” replied Mrs. Wilson, and she duly sent them off.

The class received signed coloured photos of seven medal winners from the New Zealand team Lisa Carrington, Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie, Peter Burling and Blair Tuke, Hamish Bond and Eric Murray, and with a personal thank you for their cards – so special!

Plus two of our Senior Students received a phone call from Silver Medalist, Blair Tuke. Blair rang to chat with Cooper Jamieson and Thorr Ivatt about the congratulatory card they sent him a few weeks ago. It’s a pretty amazing thing, to be rung at your school by a Kiwi Olympian, there were definitely a few jealous faces!
