Wines From Martinborough

Sept 2012

Over the past 12 months Wines From Martinborough have gone through a lot of changes – akin to a regroup  and re-attack phase  We have emerged from it energised, enthusiastic, and excited about the future and what we can achieve when we market our region collectively. From international trade delegations through to tastings aimed at creating champions within our community, Wines From Martinborough have been rather busy and we think you’ll be very interested to hear what we’re up to.

Wines From Martinborough is a member society, with the purpose of marketing the Martinborough wine region and ‘influencing the influencers’ such as key media and trade.  With 24 members ranging from the truly ‘boutique’ (otherwise known as tiny) through to larger, more commercial operations, we have a real range of members, but what they all have in common is their passion for wine.

Martinborough wine is often described as “small in size but huge in style and personality” which is one of the many reasons we’re able to bat above our weight. Currently we have 9 vineyards just finishing a trade week in Singapore. From the messages we’ve had back it sounds like it’s been a great success and we’re excited to see the new relationships and increased sales that develop as a result.

In the Wines From Martinborough office we’re busy pulling together the final details of a big trade week in London at the end of this month. We have a total of 8 vineyards heading over there, ranging from those who already have good export sales to the UK, through to some who are looking to break into the UK market. For a tiny wine growing region at the bottom of the world, we’re already causing quite a fuss within the UK wine industry and it’s great to see the excitement building.

This is the first of our regular articles for the Martinborough Star, keeping you up to date with what’s happening in the local wine industry and all the exciting wine marketing initiatives happening both locally and internationally.   To find out more, go to our website www.winesfrommartinborough.com,  follow Wines from Martinborough on facebook, or like them on twitter @WinesFromMboro
