As Christmas descends, there is often more to do and less time to do it in. I am a great believer in making sure that no matter how pressured life gets, you still need to make room for you time – for inner calm, relationship time – for love and fun, and family time – for grounding, connection and support.
Forward planning and creating order around the house and workplace keeps your mind clear and focused.
Have a gift box full of treasure, paper, cards and tape.
hen you run out of an item, or remember something that needs attending to, write it down somewhere visible like a blackboard.
Make and freeze a little extra when you cook.
Keep your drawers tidy and know where essential items are.
Clear surfaces, reduce clutter and make things accessible.
Delegate, or hire elves or pixies to help you.
Not overindulging in late nights, alcohol or junk food keeps you healthy and resourced. Staying in control of your time, your finances and your emotional reactions, creates essential balance and invites composure into your relationships with others.
Financially, live within your means. Spend wisely or have it be okay to not buy anything at all. What really counts is spending quality time with those you love and letting them know you value them. Put the silly in the season by asking others to come up with fun and creative ideas for present giving.
How about:
Agreeing to only spend a certain amount per person.
Be Secret Santa – give an unnamed small $ value gift.
Pick a name out of a hat and buy a thoughtful gift for one person.
Organize in advance to give gifts that are handmade, homemade, edible or only locally sourced.
Slow down, keep things calm, fun and grounded and remember to soak up the joy as well as spread it. ?
