Connie Taylor had prepared a mystery entertainment for the October meeting. Members enjoyed the game Connie had prepared where teams of 6 were to recognise prominent people or places. Everyone enjoyed the challenge.
The local constable came to give members some idea as to what to expect from the changes to the left hand rule which are to come into force next year.
Power prices are evidently going up in the New Year and members were asked to bring written power savings hints. A few included: wash hands under cold water. Rinse tea cup(s) with hot water remaining in the electric jug. Draw curtains before sunset in the winter. Use energy efficient bulbs. Use a wet back for hot water. Turn off hot water every alternate 24 hours (tie something to the door handle to remind when the power is off). Turn all appliances off at the wall. Washing machines are alive unless switched off at the wall. Radio coloured stand by light uses power.
For the November meeting members travelled to the Greytown Working Men’s Club for mid-day meal. The ladies were asked to wear a ‘fascinator’ (flower, feather, what ever could be interesting). After lunch members took time to see some of Greytown’s interesting shops and places.
